IIBA Certifications Framework

certificationseal.pngTo meet the growing demands of the global marketplace in the field of business analysis, effective September 30th 2016, the IIBA® has introduced the new Business Analysis Competency-Based Certification Framework resulting in an enhanced, multi-level certification program that recognizes knowledge and skills in support of lifelong BA career progressions.

The new certification program has four distinct levels based on specific levels of experience and competencies.The enhanced certification provides a roadmap that also includes specializations and skills development; as well the new flexible certification framework allows alignment with other certifications in our common community.

Level 1 - recognizes entry level BA Professionals, and is exam-based. Individuals who meet the eligibility requirements and pass the exam will be granted the Entry Certificate in Business AnalysisTM (ECBA®) designation. You may refer to the ECBA Handbook and the Learning Objectives for additional details.

Level 2 recognizes BA Professionals who have two to three years of business analysis experience and is exam based. Individuals who meet the eligibility requirements and pass the exam will be granted the Certification of Capability in Business AnalysisTM (CCBA®) designation. You may refer to the CCBA Handbook and the Learning Objectives for additional details.

Level 3 recognizes BA Professionals who manage and lead with over 5 years of business analysis experience and is exam based. Individuals who meet the eligibility requirements and pass the exam will be granted the Certified Business Analysis ProfessionalTM (CBAP®) designation.  You may refer to the CBAP Handbook and the Learning Objectives for additional details.

Level 4 recognizes industry thought leaders and those who are giving back to the community, to offer further opportunities and growth for senior strategic BA professionals. Level 4 requires a minimum of 15,000 hours and is assessment based. More information for CBATL will be available soon.
